Bickford Theater Schedule
Return to NJJS

Wednesday, April 14, 8 PM. This 7-piece band will fill Mancini Hall with the sounds of top-rate traditional jazz. Popular in this region, they will also fill a lot of seats. Larger than the usual offerings in this intimate space, they are entirely appropriate for Jazz Appreciation Month, representing the music that captivated the public a century ago.

The discerning Cape May Jazz Society says ACJB represents "the best Dixieland jazz in all Jersey." But their repertoire goes beyond the standards to some tunes neglected by other bands. They also toast Tin Pan Alley with some Berlin, Gershwin, Arlen and Mercer favorites, and they even have some Scott Joplin stuff in their book. They've been presented by Tri-State, Somers Point, and have even toured Italy with this music. Not bad for a relatively new aggregation, made up of seasoned players with exceptional resumes.

This series is temporarily quartered at the Toms River Library building while its home at Ocean County College is under renovation. It's less than a mile from Parkway exit 81; directions below. Request tickets, directions from the OCC Box Office at (732) 255-0500.

Concerts are one long set, from 8 to 9:30 PM, allowing working people to attend and still get home at a decent hour. The tab is reasonable too: only $13 in advance, $15 at the door. Ticket info below.

The New Jesey Jazz Society is a proud co-sponsor of Jazz for Shore.
