Wednesday, February 8, 8 PM. Surprisingly young for such a mature talent. Geoff Gallante walked onto the stage last year for a guest appearance with Al Harrison's Dixieland Band, and he immediately won the hearts of the large crowd in the hall, receiving ovations at the end. On trumpet or cornet, he was able to keep up with the pros, improvise solos, trade fractional choruses and exhibit a broad repertoire not usually found in players twice or more his age.

On this date, he will bring his own trio and have the full evening to display his—and their—exceptional talents. We've heard that Jean Baptiste will be his pianist, with Ed Wise on bass. Geoff is rather Bix-like, able to play almost anything after hearing it once, and playing a bit of piano too.

Midweek Jazz concerts are one long set, from 8 to 9:30 PM, allowing working people to attend and still get home at a decent hour. The tab is reasonable too: only $15 for seniors, $18 for others. Request tickets, directions from the OCC Box Office at (732) 255-0500. More info below.

About Jazz for Shore: The Arts and Community Center on the Ocean County College campus has been entirely refurbished during a two year renovation, with improved building access, an elevator to the balcony, expanded rest room facilities and improvements in both lighting and sound.
If you order tickets through the box office you get a discount for advance purchase of tickets, and you get to choose your RESERVED SEAT!
Tickets: $15 for seniors, $18 for others. Purchase in advance from the Ocean County College box office: (732) 255-0500. The box office can also provide information and directions.
Directions: Ocean County College is located in Toms River, NJ. Driving directions are available from the box office or on the OCC website, http://www.ocean.edu/welcome/maps/directions.htm The hall is at the end of College Drive, just off County Road 249, known locally as Hooper Avenue. There is a HUGE parking area just across from the building.
