Jazz in Bridgwater returns--but just for an evening. Exactly 71 years and one
day after Benny Goodman's legendary Carnegie Hall concert, clarinetist
Dan Levinson will be fronting the exceptional James Langton
Big Band in an anniversary tribute, using authentic arrangements of
Swing Era material that reaches beyond that which was presented at Carnegie
itself.
Dan sold out this room once before with a recreation of the entire Carnegie concert. This edition of the annual BENNY series is expected to repeat that turnout, but with a different program. We've seen an early list of musicians who have signed on, with many familiar names and a few coming from afar. Examples: Randy Reinhart, Charlie Caranicas, Mark Shane, Matt Munisteri, Kevin Dorn, Molly Ryan, with others who toil somewhat anonymously in larger popular aggregations such as the Nighthawks, the TomCats and other Big Bands you've enjoyed. Tickets in advance are a very reasonable $20 for the front section and $15 for the upper section. Prices incrase by $5 one week before the event. NEW THIS YEAR: Tickets will not be mailed unless requested, but instead will be held for pickup at the door in an express line. In the past, many people complained about tickets lost in the mail. The location will once again be the Vo-Tech School's acoustic auditorium in Bridgewater, two blocks from the Bridgewater Commons, near Routes 22, 202/206 and Interstate 287.
