Jazz Film Series
The films are presented at the
Library of the Chathams, 214 Main Street in Chatham Boro, starting at 7 P.M. There is
no admission charge, and the programs are open to the general public. Time permitting,
we will have a discussion following the showing of each film. Our initial film series
that took place last year was a popular addition to our lineup of events, and we
look forward to having even more of you take advantage of this exciting and interesting
series.

Our diverse program continues with the Baby Soda Jazz Band with Ed Polcer.
Ed will talk about the pleasure of working with the young lions of jazz and
they will offer some thoughts of what it's like to work with a seasoned and
accomplished player. Baby Soda is on the cutting edge of a new movement
loosely known as street jazz; with an eclectic set of influences ranging
from New Orleans brass bands, jug music, southern gospel and hot jazz. The
ensemble doesn't desire to recreate the past, rather they bring the concept
and joy of the music to the present.
- Oct 18
Featuring pianist-vocalist Champian Fulton.
Come on out and meet Champian
whose father, jazz trumpeter Stephen Fulton, influenced her choice of music
back home in Oklahoma. Since 2005, Champian has been on the NYC jazz scene,
playing with her own group, and working alongside of Jazz greats. It'll make
you happy when you hear her play selections from her latest release,
"Sometimes I'm Happy." Join us to learn more about Champian and her music in
our Intimate Portrait Series.
